Baby Rory | San Francisco Newborn Photographer

{In-Home Newborn Session}

I visited Rachel and Brian’s beautiful home in San Francisco for their son’s newborn photography session. Rory – what an adorable name for this sweet baby boy! As a San Francisco newborn photographer, I get to interact with and meet many new families and photograph this special phase of their lives. It is a huge privilege to be welcomed into their homes and being trusted to hold their baby, pose them and swaddle them as needed. Each family is different and unique in their own way. Here is Rachel & Brian’s story:

We got our first dog together, Zella (the smaller dog) in 2008. As a “3rd birthday present” we got her a brother in 2011 who we appropriately named Brother. It only seemed appropriate to give Zella a human brother one week before her tenth birthday. So far, they are loving their role as dog-siblings. – Rachel

Rory is named after my dad (Robert) who passed away in 2012. I always knew I’d name my first-born child after him, so his name is very meaningful to our family. – Rachel

While most people will know his name to be “Rory Wolf,” Rory’s middle name on his birth certificate is officially “Wolverine.” This was a point of much heated debate for me and Brian. Brian wanted this for the middle name in “honor” of our alma mater University of Michican (GO BLUE!) and I thought it was ridiculous! I thought “Wolf” was a good compromise, but Brian wouldn’t budge. His initials, RSW are also the same as mine and a rearrangement of his namesake. Robert whose initials were RSW. We agreed that if Rory wants to change his official middle name from Wolverine to Wolf he can chose to do so when he turns 13! – Rachel

I met Brian in 2005 when we were in college at University of Michigan and were married in 2011; so the arrival of Rory in 2018 felt long-overdue. We always knew we wanted children, but between Brian’s business school and my time in medical school, residency and fellowship the timing wasn’t right until now. We are so happy to finally have Rory here and to experience the sweet joys of parenthood together. – Rachel
